New year, new machines

Inspection machine work station
WE'VE WELCOMED A FEW NEW MACHINES TO THE TEAM.

In December we welcomed new mill HAAS VF 2SS to expand tooling capabilities and production throughput. With faster speeds, outputs, tool changes, etc., this mill allows us to integrate new processes and better capabilities to serve our customers.

Part of the SPF advantage is our commitment to quality. December we also welcomed InspecVision's very own Planar 2D Scanner. This planar scanner allows for us to mass examine product quality precisely and quickly. This piece of machinery complements our Amada FabriVISION Scanner. By using these efficient measurement techniques, we can eliminate delays in our inspection process.

January we installed an automated robot for our HAAS milling machines. This automated robot allows for lights out production, helping our manufacturing processes on overnight projects. We understand that when you partner with SPF, you are making an investment. We honor this investment and are constantly looking for ways to improve our processes to bring our customers exactly what they need.

Speaking of continuous improvement…

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT MILESTONES

Through the addition of a fluidized bed to our paint area to complement our electrostatic powder coating, we now boast a more uniform, heavier insulating epoxy coating on our copper bus bars. By coating our bus bars, our customers gain improved conductivity, protection against shock from high voltages, as well as resistances to magnetic fields, environmental conditions, and corrosion.

The aforementioned addition of automation for one of our copper soldering machines as well as a new soldering machine. As we’ve been making sure these implementations are aligned with our CI Tools, this has allowed us to increase throughput and employee satisfaction. We produce many copper parts that require soldering. Soldering copper is important for creating electrical connections between pertinent copper parts.

As of December, Santa Catarina has officially fully integrated with PLEX! Our final location, Matamoros, is planning on full integration Q2 2023.
So far, PLEX has been offering us vastly more control over our processes and has helped connect the working parts of our company together. Check out this news update to learn more about our integration efforts with PLEX.
